Proposed Reduction of Service- Webster County and the Town of Webster Springs- Effective July 1, 2022.

PUBLIC NOTICE OF REDUCTION OF TRANSIT SERVICE TO WEBSTER COUNTY

Effective June 30, 2022, MTA due to the rising fuel cost and other related cost, and with the direction from our Federal and State funding source, MTA will reduce bus service to the following areas of Webster County:

Town of Webster Springs and all areas of Webster County.
MTA will continue to provide service to the Town of Cowen (who has provided a local match) every 1^st and 3^rd Wednesday to Summersville only, and the Hacker Valley area every 2^nd and 4^th Wednesday to Webster Springs only.

This will be a CALL-RIDE Service only, and each person MUST CALL (304) 872-5872 in advance for service in the two service areas.

MTA is required to have local funding for matching of the Federal Funds we receive for public transit, and over the past few years we have not received any from the Webster County Commission and the Town of Webster Springs.

This is a very hard decision, but one must be made to keep MTA economically sound and to place our resources in areas that invest in public transit. This decision has not been taken lightly by MTA’s Board of Directors, management, and staff, but one that is necessary to continue to operate MTA within our grant guidelines.

MTA will take comments until June 10, 2022, and will response in writing to any questions until June 17, 2022.
